Illinois Tourism Mile Markers

Illinois Mile Markers

2013 is bringing a lot of exciting travels for our family including serving as Ambassadors for the new Illinois Tourism Mile Markers Program.  Each year we visit Illinois more than any other state, and yet there is so much of Illinois we haven't seen - simply to much to see and do!  Everyone knows how great Chicago is (and it's one of my favorite big cities in the world), but Illinois offers so much more than just one great city!

There is so much more to Illinois than just Chicago!
Our first visit as part of this new program is to Rockford, Illinois where we will visit many of their family friendly attractions and restaurants.  We have driven through Rockford many times on our way to Wisconsin, but this will be our first visit...needless to say we are quite excited to experience everything Rockford has to offer!

Illinois has been a great state for us to visit, and just in the past year alone we have been to Springfield (visiting all the Lincoln attractions including the phenomenal Lincoln Presidential Museum), Metropolis (Superman!), Union (home to the largest railway museum in the United States), and of course Chicago (several visits covering many attractions including my favorite zoo in the USA at the Lincoln Park Zoo).  Here are some photos from our 2012 travels to Illinois, and I hope our 2013 travels, including Rockford as part of the Illinois Mile Markers Program, are just as fun & exciting!

  1. I've never been to Illinois, but I have a list of things I would love to see there, including Superman! That's something even my teens would enjoy!

  3. Guilty as charged...with the exception of one hippie road trip aboard a converted school bus through IL in my younger days, the only IL city I've repeatedly visited is Chicago. Guess I have some more exploring to do next time hehehe ;)
